Business structuring
Your structure decides how you are taxed, how well your assets are protected and how easy the business will be to sell or pass on. We design structures that fit where you are now and where you are going.
How we help.
- Choosing between sole trader, partnership, company and trust
- Holding and operating company structures
- Family and unit trust set-ups, with your lawyer
- Restructures as the business grows
- Shareholder and owner arrangements
- Structuring before an acquisition, investment or sale
Is this you?
- New businesses deciding how to set up
- Owners whose structure was chosen in a hurry years ago
- Partners bringing in a new owner or investor
Good to know.
Is a company always better than a sole trader?
No. A company adds cost and paperwork. It is worth it when the extra protection, flexibility or tax position outweighs that. We model the options for your numbers before you decide.
Can I change my structure later?
Usually, but moving assets between entities can trigger tax and stamp duty. Some relief is available in the right circumstances. Planning early costs far less than fixing it later.
Do you prepare trust deeds and constitutions?
Legal documents are prepared by a lawyer. We design the structure, work with your lawyer, and handle the accounting and registrations around it.
